My Son’s Sheets

The main fabric for this quilt is a sheet set that was used on my kids’ bunkbed. They all slept there at one point or another, although technically it belonged to my son. So many of my young-kid memories are tied up in that bunk bed. Forts and fights. Bedtime books and late night illnesses. I can’t say that I ever made the mattresses up properly - it’s impossible to make bunk beds.

This was one of the first quilts with reused materials that I didn’t cut out the parts of the fabric that were stained. Because I couldn’t. All those stains hold my memories.

All other fabrics are scraps, from our clothing, or both. Hand quilted with sashiko thread.
